A Walk Into Eternity

The clouds were lined with silver,
In the deep blue painted sky,
The moon and starlight filtered,
Down from some place on high.

The rays of light were scattered,
By each small drop of dew,
Tonight ‘twas all that mattered,
As it lit the path for you.

You moved on towards that meadow,
Over tree roots covered with moss,
Followed only by your shadow,
To the creek that you would cross.

Your feet felt warmth rise from the sod,
As you found the magical place,
The sky above a picture of G-d,
You could almost touch His face.

And so you laid down upon the grass,
And began that celestial journey,
Your spirit quietly whispered the pass,
And you walked into eternity.
